More cards with new technique

So I came home and had to play with the technique from last night, we were using a very cool adhesive that Cathie will be discussing in an upcoming article. So I made two card samples, when you touch the glitter it feels just like velvet.. gotta love that! And also we used some new holographic glitter that is semitransparent too. The background blue is done with chalk pencils which are really cool too!

Sorry these look much nicer and sparkly in person!

Card Class Last Night

So last night I got to finally meet an online stamping friend Chris... aka limeyscrapper which was awesome PLUS we got take a class with Cathie Allen at Western Educational in Edmonton. Now I can't say much about how we made the card as Cathie has an article coming out in the fall in Canadian Scrapbooker I believe in regards to the technique... but it was fun and I am going to play some more today with the technique until I get it mastered!

Ismaki Challenge #26

This week's challenge at Challenge Ismaki was a sketch challenge and one could easily have colored an image, put a nice cuttlebug scalloped frame behind it and placed is on top of patterned paper and could have made a gorgeous card, but I wanted to try something different for their sketch. I was going for white on white, I found I need to add a little bit of silver, but I tried to keep it to a minimum.

The background was done using cuttlebug stylized flowers embossing folder. The "patterned paper" was made by stamping an inque boutique stamp in silver on white cardstock and then toning it done with white chalk ink over top. The word inspire from Art Impressions was embossed in liquid platinum on white vellum paper. The little flower window is from magenta. I used Alabaster chalk ink directly onto white cardstock and covered over an area and then stamped the flower window in pewter on top as I wanted the window to stand out a bit from the the rest of card.

Friday Sketches and Papertake Thank You Card

Ok so here I find myself doing those frilly kind of cards again... :-) and they are ok to do every once and while... I really could not see how you couldn't do frilly with this week's Friday Sketcher's sketch #8. The sketch is gorgeous and just begs for a frilly kind of card in my opinion. I used a stampin' up stamp and colored it with Copic markers. I made the pink background paper using a batik technique on pink cardstock. The floral swirls were stamped with white pigment ink and colored with prismacolor pencil crayons.

The Papertake challenge this week was to make a Thank You card, so I stamped this sugarloaf stamp using ink from the background paper on colored cardstock. Thanks for the inspiration!

Penny Black using CPS card Sketch #71

The challenge this week at the Penny Black challenge blog was to use the color combo of pink, brown and green. I thought this lily flower was perfect for the challenge. I am not a hedgehog girl when it comes to Penny Black - instead I love the sketch stamps. The CPS sketch worked really well with this card. I stamped parts of the Penny Black your days stamp onto each colored strip.

The background paper was made using pigment inks mixed with water on a craft sheet. Just trying something new out. I still need to perfect this one. It has almost like a plaster of paris look. Of course the shadows show on the photo as the paper does not lie totally flat, so the card looks much nicer then it photographs.

I contemplated doing a border or inking the edges but I choose not to, still not sure on that one!

Cuttlebug ATC

I am in a cuttlebug ATC swap over at the stamp shack. For this swap I decide to use the stylized flowers embossing folder, probably one of my all time favorite folders! This is the ATC I designed, it took me a while to get what I wanted and the funny thing is it is not whate I started out to do. I used quite a few different techniques for this ATC so I thought I would how I made it with you.

Supplies

- versamark
- black water based ink (I used Vivid)
- white pigment ink
- white embossing powder
- vellum
- copic markers in G99 - Olive, BV00 - Mauve Shadow, BV02 - Prune, V17 - Amethyst
- glossy accents
- clear embossing powder mixed with a pinch of silver glitter
- lavender glitter
- lumiere paint in silver
- silver glitter glue
- cuttlebug
- Stylized flowers folder
- Scor-it
- stamps
- foam brush
- white cardstock cut to 2 1/4 x 3 1/4
- purple cardstock cut to 2 1/2 x 3 1/2

Instructions

1. I started by stamping a small butterfly image onto the white cardstock using black ink.

2. I allowed the ink to dry and then I applied a few coats of silver lumiere paint using a foam brush.

3. Once the paint was dry I embossed the flower design using the cuttlebug.

4. I then used my copic markers V17 and G99 to color over the embossed image.

5. I set this aside to allow the markers to dry for a while.

6. Next I stamped the dragonfly using black ink and colored the wings with BV00 and BV02 copic markers.

7. I cut out the dragonfly and then applied versamark over the image.

8. I heat embossed with clear embossing powder mixed with a pinch of silver glitter to give the dragonfly some shine.

9. I stamped the Thinking of You sentiment onto white vellum using white pigment ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

10. I cut the sentiment to 2 1/2 by 1 1/2 and scored the top and bottom above and below the sentiment with my scor-it.

11. I then returned to my embossed atc from step 5 and added highlight of silver glitter glue along one edge of the embossed flower petals on the ATC.

12. I covered the rest of the embossed flower with glossy accents and sprinkled lavender glitter on top. Set this aside and allow to dry. (This can take a few hours or even overnight).

13. I assembled my ATC and matted it onto purple cardstock.

Mini Albums

Well I made my first mini albums this past weekend. My brother is coming from Toronto and I have not seen him in 4 years. So I made him mini albums of each of my kids. It is my first time using my Bind It All as well. I must say though I really struggled with embellishments for boys. I looked through my stash and was left with ribbon, buttons, stars or arrows. Any ideas on "boy" embellishments would be greatly appreciated. It was so easy to do my daugthers - great rub-ons and flowers it was super easy, the boy ones a totally different story. I think I need to surf around and look for some boy layouts etc and see what everyone else uses.

Here are the albums
